A Bittersweet Day | The Daily Susannah Archive

Today Mommy spent three long, cruel hours back at work, mostly in phone conferences. Susannah seemed pretty happy with her friend Madeleine. Time spent away from the girl is a wrench, but one we must get used to. Tomorrow will be more of the same.

On the sweet side, Susannah smiled a "delight" smile, as opposed to a social smile, showing pleasure in her favorite mobile above her "dressing table" that Daddy made just for her. She enjoyed a stately afternoon with Handel's Concerti Grossi and mixed it up with some Madonna in the evening. She also tried out her fancy exercise mat today but mostly ignored it and lay there staring at the lights on the stereo instead. Watch out Daddy! This evening she had a leisurely first dinner, followed by a bath. The bath is still a very solemn affair. We're grateful for no tears and looking forward to smiles.

I love your pictures and I'm so happy you're enjoying the quilt. You look very cute having tummy time on it. Melissa, I didn't think you'd be back to work so soon. What a bummer! Keep the pictures coming.
